The family is the most important, essential part of a community. Whether it's a relationship, marriage, young family, large or small family, mixed family, foster or adopted family---or simply a group of people living in a place they call home---connecting people with the kind of family ties that bind is what our Power of Family department is all about.

Contributions are welcome that encourage family togetherness, as well as any stories about creating stronger family bonds, traditions and values. Organizations and programs that help families are also welcome to contact us for special features.

A column for both professional family counselors/therapists and parents to contribute what has worked for them to successfully in the world of parenthood. We want to hear about your challenges and successes in your efforts to raise children in a positive environment, even if it's a work in progress!

PickMeUP!Children'sCorner:

Especially for kids ages 5-11. Stories, activities, craft ideas, etc.

Refiner'sFire:

For teenagers to share the skills they've learned that have helped them have better relationships with peers, family or authority figures. Or, a place for them to tell their own story of struggle and triumph.

Silver&Gold:

Dedicated to the senior community to write about senior living, or for adult children to write a tribute to their parents.

TiesThatBind:

Ideas for activities that help bring the family together and create lasting memories.
